A passage through Egypt

Nile in Nubia

I doubted to go but then I dreamed
~~~
I entered a gift shop full of black Anubis statues.  ‘Choose any one you like’
I didn’t want one
because I have my real Anubis with me always, Rayo.
An Ibizan hound. There he was beside me. His energy radiant, alive and bright.
Rayo grew large, smiled and showed me through the next door.
There were scales. One side tipped to the floor. A bowl, in it a white-grey feather.
The other side tipped so high to the ceiling I could not see in the bowl.
‘You have passed the test because you choose love’
Then Rayo turned to me and said  “I will show you Egypt, I will be with you.”
~~~
So I went and he was with me.
Temples, tombs and the great river Nile are sprinkled with his ashes.

LIBRA . MA-AT

Meanwhile in the real sky, the Sun has entered the sign of Libra the scales of balance, karma, mutuality and justice.

I have returned from Egypt, learning Sidereal Astrology and tracing the yugas, grand cycles of time. Ancient Egypt is fascinating, complex and a vast topic that branches out into so many arenas. What ‘little’ I have learned is still too much to put to words. And it is not my intention to turn these Passages into an Egypt blog (even though the next few passages will probably include references to Egypt) or myself into an egyptologist. Nevertheless, all ancient spiritual traditions share a common thread through history. The Ancient Egyptian civilization has left a deep impressionable stamp on collective western European culture and thinking, whether you are aware of it or not. In the context of linking the Anahata lineage to history and tracing back to the time when humanity aligned time and cycles with the real stars I will reference Egypt.

Libra comes from the scales of Ma’at, the goddess of order who weighs your heart (the home of your soul) and deeds against the weight of a feather. Only when your heart weighs equal to or lighter than a feather will Anubis, the Jackal headed opener of passages to the afterlife allow you to continue your journey to the court of Osiris. Otherwise your soul will be devoured by a monstrous creature.

The Anahata yogi will appreciate the symbolism of this story; balance and liberation (libra) through the heart. 🙂

The Egyptian mystery

The Egyption allure and mystery is that the archaeological finds do not chronicle a clear evolution but rather portray a devolution of a civilization. There’s barely a trace of how the ancient Egyptians learned what they were able to do. The oldest structures and art are the most precise, beautiful, intricate, delicate, profound. And the latest ones are the most crude. When you see this first hand, there is no debate. The structures and some art dated to the pre-dynastic (before the pharaohs) era are the most beautiful, mysterious and technologically advanced yet. Impossible to replicate today.

This points to an earlier, more advanced civilization and culture, with more advanced beings (perhaps human, perhaps not). A notion that defies the mainstream historical narrative. I no longer speculate that the yugas are real. The human race as it is now, is not the peak of progress. The ancients, had incredible knowledge including astronomical and cosmic knowledge.

Megalithic temple structures are found beside and beneath the surface temples and pyramids.
They carry a different aesthetic, precision, pure materials, no decoration.

Back to BAlance . Karma . Ma-at

As awe invoking as ancient Egypt is it also carries this shadow; The dynastic Egyptian story chronicles the fall of a civilization and perhaps humanity into abuse of power, corrupt hierarchy, black magic, false prophets, trickery, manipulation, scattering and inversion. The energy field of modern Egypt (close to the current war in Gaza) is low and survival based.

When I contemplate the suffering in the world I often contemplate karma. I semi-grew up in a paradigm that believes that being born into a life of suffering is due to karmic debt. Perhaps it is so, but this is not only due to personal karma it includes collective karma as well. A notion I have struggled to grasp and have been confronted with in my therapy work. It lead me to seek out Anneke Lucas and the Unconditional Model, highlighting the ‘power pyramid’ paradigm we have today which enables those on the top of the pyramid to ‘offload’ their negative karma to those at the bottom. The power pyramid is prevalent in the Hindu caste system (this is rarely talked about in yoga circles), ancient and modern Egypt and many other scenarios but perhaps a topic to dive into in another Passage.

I say this because I do not want to mask reality and mislead with ‘pretty pictures of Egypt’. I believe that if there is a universal law of karma and balance, it is upheld through us and our own inner work, sense of responsibility and quest for knowledge.

Below are curated snippets of the Egyptian journey. (Without the hustle, hassle, poverty, pollution.) I hope they enable a transmission of experience.

Pieces

The first night we arrived. I gazed up at the sky and saw a shooting star flash between Orion and Sirius. I took it to be a fantastically good omen. 🙂
Luxor

 The tombs were full of love for the life of who they belonged to.  The rocky hills nestling the valley were powerful. That is why they chose the location.
See beyond the structures.
Valley of the Queens

Mother Sky and Father Earth, Nut and Geb.

The literal translation of the Egyptian Book of the Dead is “Spells of Coming Forth by Day.”
‘Book of the Dead’ is a title given by a German Egyptologist Karl Richard Lepsius because he saw the ‘story’ depicted in all the tombs. Could it be that the trials and gates are not only for the afterlife, but are rites that take place during life to dissolve the ego?
In preparation for death.
Valley of the Kings

A stargate
One of many we found in 4 different temples. All made of the same black granite.

The hieroglyphs on these stargates read ‘Star Gate’

Dawn light basking at Hatsheput Temple

Karnak Temple of life, built according to the Fibonacci spiral. A vast complex, to explore.

To the back of the Karnak compound I ‘discovered’ the goddess Seshat, daughter of Thoth, wisdom. Seshat is depicted with a 7 pointed palm leaf (star) over her head. She is the goddess of astronomy, astrology, writing, architecture, mathematics, surveying, accounting and sciences.
Her father Thoth, Hermes Trismegistus (thrice Great) famously wrote “As above, So below” the emerald tablet.
If I were to choose a patron goddess, it would be her

Dazed in the hall of the Hathors and the celestial ceiling.
Dendera Temple

The black square hiding the 13th decan, Ophiuchus.
The entire ceiling used to be black, covered in soot as people used to live and cook in the temples. The story is that they ‘forgot’ to clean this one square during the restorations. And so the 13th sign remains (symbolically) hidden.

A replica of another celestial ceiling. The original is at the Louvre, Paris. The French created a replica of the soot covered ceiling which can never be cleaned and sent it to Egypt.

Foundations of a ‘dream hospital’ . The roots of hypnotherapy, dream therapy, trance therapy.
Dendera

Sweet Sekhmet, the mama lioness goddess.
The proportions of Luxor Temple correspond to the human body. The body is a temple.

Abydos Temple, not so many tourists make it here. The energy is sublime.

Rayo showing me the way. The art at Abydos is exquisite, subtle and fine. There is a famous wall here (I filmed it, so no pics) That depicts the reigns of Egypt and states that the Neteru, beings that embodied divine energy were the first to rule over Egypt.

“Keep your eyes open” he said.

“What can you see?”

At Karnak Temple they confiscated my analema wand (I use to structure water) and broke it without telling me.
In Nubia I was gifted this piece of silica, quartz glass. <3

Evidence I was there. The real entrance is sealed. You can see the pointed arch above me. We entered through the black hole to my upper right.

There’s a convincing theory that the Sphinx was originally an Anubis statue surrounded by a moat. I tend to agree that proportions of the body more resemble a hound than a lion.

5 elements

Like many ancient philosophical traditions Anahata yogis observed primal elements. Earth, fire, air, water and akasha (aether) are the five used in the Anahata Five Element Philosophy. They inform a nonverbal language that connects to nature and the subtle energies of reality, setting the foundation to grow and ground psychic perception.

In yoga experience is knowledge, so philosophy is practiced. It is not just an intellectual activity.

The Five Element Purification Practice or Tattwa Shuddhi Saddhana is a system of holistic moving and detoxifying meditations for shifting and balancing physical, energetic, conscious and unconscious mental patterns.  It is an integral part of the Anahata tradition. The movements and philosophy are woven into the classes and daily life. Tattwa Shuddhi Saddhana is often taught as a system on its own as it is suitable for all levels and all shapes of human. See the calendar for upcoming workshops or classes.

Anahata tradition

In the ancient Himalayan foothills of northern India, a lineage of yogis lovingly developed a holistic self care practice inspired by life immersed in mountain-scapes and nature.

Rocky crevices where one misstep meant death, formed ergonomic asanas to improve stamina, agility and stability. High altitudes shaped breath work for optimizing oxygen retention and reinvigorating energy. Night skies illuminated by stars and campfires invoked dream exploration and methods for navigating states of consciousness in trance. Living self-sufficiently nurtured healing techniques that harness the body’s regenerative processes. But above all, the yogis observed that by tuning into their heart intelligence ALL of their life sustaining qualities improved. They became more connected with their environment as well as with themselves. They called their system of practice, Anahata Yoga. Anahata, named after the energetic heart.

Without books or libraries, knowledge was shared through an oral tradition of experiential learning and body memory. Emphasis was placed on inner awareness and meditation filled movements referred to as the dances of Shiva and Shakti. The dances of duality.

Unlike most hatha yoga traditions popular in the west, Anahata yoga evolved through a lineage outside of the higher priestly castes. Maintaining a tradition devoted to our unique Human Path and journey of individuation.

Your Subconscious

You have a deeper mind, called the subconscious. It is like a hard-drive that stores and connects all your experiences, associations, projections, emotional triggers and unquestioned beliefs. This information influences your behavior, how you think and what you feel. True inner change takes place at this deep and fundamental level of the psyche. Accessing it consciously requires openness to self-inquiry, body connection and a shift in awareness through practices such as meditation, trance, or self hypnosis.

Inner-processing and hypnotherapy sessions facilitate inner transformation and growth through accessing the subconscious mind.

Anahata practices based in yoga psychology offer a holistic system for processing and releasing subconscious patterns through meditation and movement.

astrology aligned with the stars

2000 years ago the constellations in the sky matched the seasons. The Sun rose in Aries (the first sign of the zodiac) during the first day of spring. But since then, the stars have changed position due to something known as the ‘precession of the equinoxes’. Today when you look at the sky on the first day of spring, the Sun rises in a different zodiac sign : Pisces.

Most western astrology uses ‘tropical astrology’ which was developed 2000 years ago and is based on the seasons and sun (spring starting with Aries) and NOT what is really happening in the stars and sky now (spring starting in Pisces). There is now a growing difference of one to two zodiac signs between tropical western astrology and the real, visible sky.

Sidereal astrology observes and uses the visible sky and the location of the planets in the stars (zodiac) as they really are NOW. Connecting with the luminaries in the sky for guidance the way the ancients did more than 2000 years ago.

This means that a Sidereal Astrology reading can include the energetic influences of stars such as Sirius, the Pleiades and the powerful 13th zodiac, Ophiacus. In ancient times, these star energies have guided our connection to cosmic consciousness and awakening.

Sidereal means ‘determined by the stars’ or ‘star time’.

~ Your birth chart is calculated using the 13 zodiacs (including the Ophiucus star sign), the true variation in sizes of the zodiac constellations (visible sky) and the placidus house system (12 equal houses which represent earth time).
